Mitering Border Corners

If you're making your wallpaper border into a frame around a door or window, you'll need to deal with some right angles. That means mitering your border so the corners look good. The key is to get your border nice and flat before you make your miter cuts. That way, the cut ends should meet perfectly.

Hanging a border around a door and mitering the corners should take about half an hour.

TOOLS
Wallboard knife
Utility knife
Edge roller
Sponge

MATERIALS
Wallpaper border
Adhesive (if necessary)

	Apply the horizontal border strips so that they run past the corners with an overlap greater than the border width. Apply the vertical border strips along the side casings, overlapping the top and bottom border strips.
	Check the position of the border strip to make sure any important patterns won't be ruined by the diagonal cuts. Remove and adjust the strips if necessary.
	Holding a straightedge at a 45-degree angle from the casing corner, double-cut both wallpaper layers with a utility knife.
	Peel back the ends of the border, and remove the cut pieces.
	Press the border back in place, and let it stand for half an hour. Lightly roll the seams and rinse the border with damp sponge.
